Investing is one of the best ways to create long term growth and increase wealth. I’ve been investing since I turned 18 and I opened my first trading account and funded it with my tip money from delivering pizzas. I remember waking up every morning and checking my account and pouring over the Wall Street Journal, I’d read the paper from end to end everyday trying to get as much investing news I could get my hands on. I also joined numerous investment newsletters and read them religiously! The investment newsletters helped me to get informed alternative viewpoints that were an excellent starting point for my own research. To this day part of my daily routine is to check WSJ, Bloomberg and read through my investment email newsletters and alerts. I don’t know what I would do without them. It’s scary for me to think about how fast time is flying by but I realized the other day that it has been 11 years since I started investing.
Investing is a very big field with a lot of specialty areas such a real estate, venture capital, commodities and equities. At one point or another I’ve been involved in each area. I have rental properties, I’ve provided seed capital for business ideas, I’ve traded securities and invested in commodities. Sometimes the investments I made worked out wonderfully and sometimes not so great but even the failures helped me to learn new things and in the end become a better investor.
