Healthy Eyes Are Wealthy Eyes

Eye healthTake a second to look in the mirror and notice the brilliance and complexity of your eyes.  Think of all the joy that you get with your eyes with crystal clear vision.  Picture all of the beautiful things that you get to see on a daily basis.  What do you see?  Maybe it’s your beautiful children.  Maybe it’s a pretty flower.  Maybe it’s the brilliant sight of the stars.

Now imagine if you suddenly lost your vision.  Picture what your life would be like.  Probably a very dark and scary place, filled with anxiety.

Most people believe that eyesight is their most important sense, however in America less than 50% of people have eye exams performed every two years.

You get your teeth cleaned on a regular basis.  Maybe you get your hair trimmed every couple weeks or so.  You might even treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure on a regular basis.  How often do you think about your eyes unless something goes wrong?

A yearly comprehensive eye exam is essential to your vision and total health.

Not only is your vision priceless but during the eye exam they can detect for things such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.  So a detailed eye exam can actually save your life.

It’s one thing to envision the beauty that we can see with our eyes, but what about the day to day activities like, reading, writing, walking, driving, etc. that we take for granted.  If you don’t have the right glasses or contacts these simple activities might seem very difficult.

Ask yourself if you’re clearly seeing what your finances are telling you?  Most people don’t relate eye health to personal finance but it’s a serious matter if you can’t see the bill you are about to sign.

For example, those of us who have a hard time seeing near, balancing a check book may seem like a daunting task and result in a mix up of your finances.  Signing important documents such as a big purchase like a new car or homes could result in a nightmare of unknown and unnecessary costs and fees.

A student sitting in class may struggle or fall behind if they have eye health issues.  Certain professions require hours and hours of computer work and reading small print.  These are just some examples of how neglecting your eye health can lead to a more stressful life.

With proper preventative care and treatment of vision problems, you can lead a more stress free lifestyle and ensure your finances are being done correctly.  Make sure you get a yearly comprehensive eye exam to save you from any unnecessary eye trouble.  Check out The American Optometric Association for more in depth eye health information.
